Distinguished Service Awards

Ken Bates – Leader Sports Reference Group: Ken has demonstrated outstanding initiative and leadership in establishing and leading the Sport Reference Group. He has developed effective working protocols and successfully led the drafting, consultation, and ratification of the Sport Position Paper. As a long-standing State Assembly Delegate, Ken continues to contribute significantly to NSWSPC.​

Paula Brennan – Relieving Leader Technology Reference Group: Paula has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to the Technology Reference Group over many years, including undertaking responsibilities as relieving RG Leader. ​She has led and contributed to numerous technology procurement tenders, working groups, and advocacy initiatives, while responding promptly to emerging ITD service issues across critical areas often technology. Paula also played a significant role in the development of the Technology Position Paper.​

Christine Cawsey – Leader, Equity Reference Group: Leadership, exceptional commitment, and strategic consultation with the Department of Education, driving equity advocacy while strengthening the Regional Group’s direction and long-term strategy. Her leadership and longstanding advocacy for Equity across NSW and in particular Western Sydney is highly commendable. ​

​Peter Howes – Leader Learning ad Engagement Reference Group   ​Co-leads the Learning and Engagement Reference Group with vision and strategic direction, fostering ongoing consultation and collaboration across Regional and Reference Groups. Contributed significantly to broader discussions surrounding teaching and learning, including the development, writing, and successful ratification of the Position Paper.​

​Norman Johnson- Meader – Leader Legal Reference Group: Has led the Reference Group with meticulous attention to detail and a proactive approach, ensuring all member concerns are addressed and timely feedback is consistently provided. Norman actively supports the Principals and the Law seminars by sharing practical, real-world examples that strengthen learning and professional understanding for colleagues across the state. ​

Anita Mangan – Leader ISMH/B Interest Group ​

Leads the SSP Interest Group, fostering collaboration and connection by bringing schools together as needed to share insights, address common challenges, and strengthen collective support networks.​ Her work is long standing and purposeful in an important aspect of supporting NSWSPC Principals. ​

Amy McKeown – Executive Officer​: For her exceptional contribution to the NSW Secondary Principals Council as Executive Officer. Her professionalism, extensive knowledge and outstanding expertise have been central to the effective operation and continuity of the Council across successive executive teams and Presidents. Amy’s deep understanding of governance and Council processes has ensured stability, efficiency and strong support for members across the state. She has also played a key role in the development of the Council’s new Constitution, contributing strategic insight and meticulous attention to detail throughout the process. Her unwavering dedication and commitment to public education have earned the respect of colleagues statewide and made a lasting impact on the Council and the profession​

​Cassy Norris – Leader High Potential and Gifted Education: Cassy has shown passionate leadership and advocacy for HPGE. Cassy’s hard work in support of the HPGE Reference Group, including representing the group on Department of Education working parties, contributing to policy consultation processes, and advocating for effective implementation of Departmental positions and initiatives. Her leadership of the RG has been innovative, consistent, focussed and far reaching​

Andrew Pesle – Member, Health and Safety Reference Group: Member of the Health and Safety Reference Group, Andrew worked tirelessly in undertaking interviews for Health and Safety Advisor positions. He worked closely alongside RG Leader Chris Randle in the leadership of the Health and Safety RG, while continually developing expertise in the Health and Safety portfolio to effectively support colleagues and strengthen regional capacity.​​

​​Glen Warren – Leader Finance and Administration Reference Group: Glen is a highly respected and long-standing Reference Group Leader who has consistently supported colleagues through his extensive knowledge, experience, and leadership. He has continued to navigate advocacy for Finance and Administration in Schools with diligence and professionalism, ensuring proposed solutions are practical, sustainable, and responsive to school needs. Glen is currently leading the development of the NSWSPC Finance and Administration Position Paper.​

Jennifer Weal – Leader New Builds Reference Group: Over the past year, Jenny has taken on the significant responsibility of leading the New Builds Regional Group while simultaneously managing the demands of a large school and major upgrade projects. Her dedication and leadership have been highly commendable, particularly through her collaboration across multiple aspects of the New Builds portfolio, including design consultation for the EGSG, Establishment Grants, and Principal Support initiatives​

Pam Wood – Finance Officer (Accounts): Pam is an incredible advocate and supporter of NSWSPC, reflected in her tireless ethical service, integrity and incredible efficiency. For more than 20 years Pam has maintained all NSWSPC accounts, payments, membership records and data. A selfless employee who has served the council with impeccable efficiency, loyalty and distinguished service. ​

​Susan Wyatt – Leader, Professional and Ethical Standards Reference Group: Susan provides exemplary leadership of the Professional and Ethical Standards Reference Group, demonstrating integrity, compassion, and professionalism in all aspects of the role. Susan has carefully navigated the PES NSWSPC Survey for many years and show tenacity and professionalism in ensuring the voice of principals is iterated at the highest levels. Her experience with complex matters is impeccable.​
