2026 Bill Kennedy Medal – Geoff Hastings
Geoff’s exceptional and sustained contribution to NSW public education reflects the very spirit of this award — distinguished service, passionate advocacy, and unwavering support for principals and public education.
As Principal of Bathurst High School and later Denison College Bathurst High Campus, Geoff demonstrated outstanding leadership and commitment to excellence. Beyond his school roles, he served the Central West Secondary Principals Council as Secretary and President and represented the SPC on key regional technology groups from 2006 onwards.
A long-standing advocate for technology in education, Geoff played a pivotal role in the Digital Education Revolution, ET4L, T4L, and LMBR initiatives. His calm, informed advocacy ensured secondary schools’ needs were central to major technology reforms, influencing Department policy and improving outcomes for schools across NSW.
Following retirement, Geoff continued his service as NSW SPC Director of Professional Learning, leading Annual Conferences and professional learning programs with extraordinary dedication and countless voluntary hours. His work has strengthened leadership capacity for principals across the state.
Geoff Hastings’ legacy of leadership, advocacy, and selfless service has made a lasting impact on NSW public education. He is a most worthy recipient of the Bill Kennedy Medal.
