Leading Learning: Changing Paradigms for Changing Times

The educational landscape is changing as a result of continuous advances in technology and a changing learner. As a result educators must recognize this shift, anticipate needed changes, and lead by example in order to meet the diverse needs of key stakeholders in the 21st Century. Attendees will learn how to harness the power of digital tools and social media accessible today to improve communications, enhance public relations, establish a brand presence, increase student engagement, transform learning spaces, discover opportunity, and grow professionally like never before.

Ewan McIntosh

Leading schools, challenged schools: Incremental or exponential?

Whether a school is an elite organisation sending students to the world’s top universities every year, or deemed to be failing by its community, every school has scope to improve its bottom line in grades by undertaking a more creative approach to learning. See how schools maintain academic excellence while better engaging students in creative learning, and improved the outcomes of students where traditional approaches were merely striving for mediocrity. Too many school strategies are filled with kind adjectives and trueisms that do not help the teacher decide how to teach at 9am on Monday, nor assist the student in seeing how he or she can play their part in making their school community great. What does it mean to set your sights high, and what strategy does it take to get there?

Laura McBain

Transform Yourself, Transform Your School, Transform Your World

Transformation in any setting begins with recognizing your own talents and your unique challenges. This plenary session will examine how often the system of schooling or aligning yourself to one pedagogical practice can lead to a misprediction of engagement. Using student work, stories of transformation and examples of disruptive professional development, this session will ask you to examine your personal narrative and dispositions about teaching and learning in the hopes that we can reimagine schools and become best selves.

James Nottingham

Leading Learning

What can leaders do to generate focus, energy and commitment from all staff? This keynote will include aligning everyone towards a common goal; focusing energy and resources on growth and learning; and ensuring values and beliefs are aligned for greatest impact .

Professor John Fischetti

Teaching and Leading to Change the World

For too long schools were places young people went to watch their teachers work. The transformation of teaching and leading across Australia and the world is reflective of the need to empower and inspire young people every day to discover and build their potential so they can invent their amazing futures. During this session we will participate in several ‘hands-on’ demonstrations at our table groups to take the ideas of the conference and put them into practice. The goal is to change the world inside the time constraints of the presentation itself. Then we’ll discuss how that worked and debrief on the key attributes of teaching and leading to ensure all children lead great lives.

Darryl Lovegrove

Passion, Perseverance and ….. Puccini

Darryl shares a compelling global business success story of, literally, operatic proportions. His story of how he and a mate took the operatic phenomenon ‘The Three Waiters’ to the world and made it #1 continues to captivate audiences from many industries and fields around the globe. It is one of triumph over adversity; of a proactive and innovative duo who took the events industry world by storm by creating a show now seen over 11,000 times in over 80 countries. Darryl will cut through corporate jargon to recount his amazing story, of a guy who ‘never took no for an answer’ and provides an honest look at the challenges of launching a business idea that turned into a global phenomenon.
